Programmes
The mission of the Youth Outreach Programme is to empower young people with skills that they need to make informed decisions thereby creating a better society where young people are healthy, responsible and actively involved in the development process. YOP accomplishes this mission by:
- Educate youth on the transmission and prevention of the spread of HIV/AIDS;
- Provide youth with Lifeskills training to bolster self-confidence and encourage goal setting;
- Cultivate leadership skills in promising young adults through youth leadership seminars, the encouragement of young leaders to plan and execute their own programming and through international exchange programmes; and
- Draw the community together through community sports programmes that foster community spirit (which can be harnessed for the other programmes that benefit the community), encourage teamwork and provide a safe, fun environment for the youth; and
- Offer education to the youth through a village free library, environmental regeneration programmes and various materials on pertinent topics.
